Lancaster Beer Runners is a unique running club that combines responsible running with social drinking in the name of science. Members gather weekly for runs spanning two to three miles, culminating in a visit to a local pub where they enjoy a beer or two and raise a toast 'To the Professor!' The club's primary mission is to support and promote the findings of a scientific research study led by Manuel J Castillo-Garzon, MD, Professor of Medical Physiology at the School of Medicine, University of Granada, Spain. The study compared the rehydration effects of a moderate amount of beer (660 ML) to an equivalent volume of water, revealing intriguing results that inspire the club's activities.
