The First Step 5k

Start your New Year with energy and purpose at The First Step 5K on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in Bedford, Lawrence. This vibrant race features a scenic route beginning at Bedford Square, traversing the lively northern part of the city, and finishing at The Downtown Depot. By participating, you’ll support Berthas Mission, a dedicated local charity focused on feeding those in need, making your run both a personal achievement and a meaningful contribution to the community. Registration opens at 7:00 AM with the race starting promptly at 8:00 AM. The first 100 registrants will receive a complimentary race shirt, and entry fees are $25 until December 24, 2025, increasing to $30 afterward, including race day sign-ups. With awards for the top three finishers in each age group, The First Step 5K welcomes runners of all levels to enjoy a memorable morning of fitness, camaraderie, and community impact.
