Tatonka 50k & 20mi

The Tatonka 50k & 20 Miler is an exhilarating trail running event set in the stunning valley of Waiteville, WV, surrounded by majestic buffalo farms and towering mountain ridges reaching 4,000 feet. This January race offers breathtaking winter scenery along the Allegheny Trail, featuring smooth terrain with 4,000 feet of elevation gain for the 50k and 2,500 feet for the 20-mile race. Runners will experience a scenic ascent to a bird observatory with panoramic views of soaring raptors and layered blue mountains, followed by rolling ridges, meadows, and forested trails with deciduous trees, pines, and rhododendron. The course finishes with a fast, winding descent on paved roads through peaceful farms, providing a fantastic opportunity for a personal best. Located just 50 minutes from Blacksburg, VA, and White Sulphur Springs, WV, the event combines challenging climbs with rewarding vistas and a welcoming community atmosphere.
